Protest

Knees have been protesting. I'm not sure if its solely the running that has aggrevated them or something else.
My left knee in particular feels tight all over.
So taking a break from running while i contibue dog walks and attemot to hit 10000+ steps each day. Also continuing the 30 day fitness challenge for legs- on medium level 1.
Just keep moving.

Shortened my # of intervals, but increased speed to 5mph
Went for 31min 5 sec and ran 2.3 miles.
I'll take it!

What a difference a day makes

I listened to my body and took an extra rest day yesterday. After battling a stomache bug and a 3 day headache, i was ready to get back at it.
Tried intervals of 3 min running at 4.7 mph and 1.15 min walking at 3.6 mph
It seems to agreed with me as I was able to complete 5k, 3.1 m in 42:41.
My best time since I started running again.

Intervals

Still trying to figure out intervals & what I like/works best.

Did 2 min running between 4.5-4.7 mph with 1 min walking at 3.6 mph

While the running was easier the 1 min recovery was tough.

Got it done

Didn't want to do it, but kicked my sorry butt down to the treadmill & got it done.

Stuck

So I am continuing to run, see my tracker on the right? >
The mileage is low, and I'm kind of stuck on week 5 of c25K.
When the run for 20 minutes showed up on week 5 d2, I laughed.

I ran intervals instead.
I am working on embracing run/walk intervals.
Right now I am trying 4 min running at 4.5 mph and 1.5 min walking at 3.6 mph

It seems to be working.
I tweaked my knee at some point this past week- walking the dog or something- so when I transition from my warm up walk to my first run interval it is downright painful!
But then it eases up- like the knee cap moves into the proper location.

I continue with the 30 day fitness challenge- legs- level 2.

Progress is slow, but steady.

Week 4, d2

Welcome to the struggle bus!
That's what I get for waiting & doing my runs in the evenings. Thouh this would have been a struggle no matter when it was done. Warning- tmi- first af in 6m. Not pleased at all and my legs feel like lead.
But, got 'er done. Keep plugging away.

February is half over

It's the 17th of February. Time keeps passing by faster and faster. Finished w3 of c25k. The 3 min run 3 min walk interval is a good one. I'll try to build from there. 30 day fitness challenge continues too. Still colder than cold outside and now drifts to walk through as well, so getting a good leg workout when walking the dog.

Week 2 complete

Week 2 of c25k is in the books and I'm still here to write about it, so that's good.
Seriously- just taking it easy to stay in the game and keep going. I havent signed up for any races. Will wait until the weather cooperates.
Running at 4.0 mph though in this past session bumped it up to 4.5 at the halfway mark and the last 45s of the last interval were at 5 mph.
Walking was steady at 3.5 and then 3.6 mph.
Conpleted day 10 of the 30 day fotness challenge and am keeping up with 50 squats per day.

C25K- week 2

And like that- it is week 2 of the C2 5K!

I'm doing this on the treadmill so I am using a 2% incline.

My walking rate is 3.5 mph and for the run sections I'm using 4.0 mph

So far so good.

Off to a good start

February has started off well, despite the fact that it is our turn to host the polar vortex.
I started Couch 2 5k- again.
Walking 1.5 min, running 1 min at 3.5mph pace for walk & 4 mph for run and a 2% incline.
Day 4 of the 30 day fitness leg challenge.
And 50 squats per day.
It's a short month, so lets get it done.

Day 31

Finished out the month with the last day of the fitness challenge and 40 squats.
A few days ago I started listening to the not your average runner podcast. I went back to the beginning as I know I need to start moving more, but haven't taken that first step to actually doing it. Well, today I was on episode 5 and the connection between knitting & running struck a nerve with me. It gave me the lightbulb moment and enough impetus to start (again).
I downloaded a couch to 5k app and hit the treadmill. 1.5 miles in 29 minutes...it's a new beginning.

Day 30

And that makes 1 month.
30 Day fitness challenge complete.
Yes, it was the easy, full body challenge.
Yes, I modified some of the exercises.
But I completed it- good enough for me.

Next up for February 30 day fitness- Leg workout.

Day 24

Thankful for a rest day.
The squat challenge was only 21 days, but I continue to do 25-30 per day.
For February, I will follow the 30 day fitness challenge legs workout.
I may try to add in a daily wall sit as well.
No change on the scale c'est la vie.
How is your fitness?

Day 13

I've made it past the point where most people setting resolutions quit, so there is that. The scale is not moving, but trying not to get discouraged.
Just keep moving.

New Year, 2019

Another year has begun. As I reflected on the past year, I was cruising through blogs I had bookmarked and was surprised at the number that have been abandoned. The domain still exists, but there have not been any recent posts. Some have now been dormant for over a year.
Now I know I am one to talk as I am at best an inconsistent poster. The blogs in question, the authors posted frequently, and then all of a sudden, *poof*, the posts stopped.
I miss them, their stories, their inspiration. I hope they are well.
