June Foodie Pen Pal Reveal

Hooray! The day has finally come. We get to reveal the goodies we received from our Foodie Pen Pals! Sorry for the delay- I thought I had this set to auto-publish, but it didn't. Note to self- just post it yourself. Anyway- without futher ado.... I was paired with Deanna who blogs at CoastalStorm I received her package on a busy day, so I had to wait until the next day to open it up. Ooh what could be inside?
All sorts of goodies- all of which I've never had before. It's so fun to venture out and try new foods. Mmmmm- granola. Not overly sweet (surprisingly) unless you get a hunk o' chocolate. YUM!

Some cool Tupperware containers that look like hockey pucks.
A healthier granola bar

Australian liquorice

And CHOCOLATE- with cashews- what an awesome combination
This was topped off by a handmade card!
Thanks for all the goodies Deanna!!!
I sent a package of goodies to Jaqueline who blogs at Cooking with Jax. I hope she liked her goodies- which apparently arrived on her birthday! Happy Birthday Jax!!
If you want to going the new food revolution of Foodie Pen Pals- visit Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean or read below for some details about Foodie Penpals. Here is what the program is all about:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We've determined things might get too slow and backed up if we're trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.
If you’re interested in participating for July, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.
You must submit your information by July 4th as pairings will be emailed on July 5th!
*If you're from somewhere besides the US, Canada or Europe and want to participate, send me an email and I'll see if we get enough interest this month!

Foodie Pen Pals?

Who knew such a thing existed? I certainly didn't.
I randomly came across it on Almas Days blog while reading race reports from run the 'hood, Race to Remember.
Foodie Pen Pals is the brain child of Lindsay, who blogs at The Lean Green Bean .  She matches up foodie pen pals in their respective countries and they get to share food from their neck of the woods.
Sounds like a great idea and who doesn't like getting mystery packages?

I'm participating in June- you must sign up before June 4th if you'd like to take part:

Race Results

Hooray- The results from the Run the 'Hood race I participated in are posted here.
Placed second in my age group! Yipee!! (with 1 min 38 seconds separating first & second)
Holy smokes there are some FAST runners in the younger age group. 49 min for a 10K?!?  Are they using rocket boosters?
Still waiting for my race packet...but am optimistic it will arrive some day.

Job well done runners & walkers!

Meanwhile, off to ponder another 10k or actually training for a longer race...
