Technical difficulties- please stand by...

So I had a rather odd thing happen last night.
Of course, I left my run until later in the evening and as I went to plug in my treadmill- I noticed something in the outlet.  Sorry- didn't take a picture of it, so bear with me as I describe that there was a prong sticking out of the outlet.
Somehow- the ground prong of the plug broke off.
Well crap.
I was able to get it out of the socket, but was worried if I used the plug that I might fry the electronics of my awesome piece of crap treadmill.
I am grateful that I own a treadmill in the first place.  As I am the first one to point out that I will not run outside when it is snowing and -13 C (8.6 F)  Yes, I am a wimp.
So I've broken my #RWRunstreak again- sigh...
And I may have to brave the winter weather (i.e- suck it up) in order to keep - what's a runner trying to get back into shape to do.. Ugh

Day 21

Good news Everyone!

I almost didn't run today, caiming I was too tired, but then I checked my email and found an email saying I get to join Team Nuun for 2016.
Well then I had to run. #noexcuses
1 mile in 11:17, proving yesterday's mile wasn't a fluke.

Yes. That's right I skipped a day of run streak. But you know what? My world didn't come crashing down.
It was due to poor planning and I have into the tired feeling, but my run today felt good- so there's that.

Starting over- again...

Day 1, 1 mile in 14:30. 1st run in >5 months. #starrtingover #rwstreak.
Yup- thanks to Running World's go app. I'm going to try to try running again.  Not sure why I stopped (other than my destination race dropping the half- marathon).
The stress of coordinating a conference (and using it as an excuse) is over now. Time to get back to business.
Just a mile a day for 37 days.
Slowly but surely- I CAN do this.

Getting back on the horse, bike, treadmill...

yup- see that little stat over in the right hand column.  That's right, I stepped on the treadmill for the first time since January 18th.  Why I stopped running, I'm not sure.
Why did I step back on the treadmill? Because of the number on the scale.
I've been watching my weight increase a 1/2 pound here, a pound there. Nearly 30 pounds later I need to put an end to it.
I'm embarrassed to go running out in public, but having a treadmill in the basement- I have NO excuses.
Using a pseudo- couch to half marathon training plan that I found via pinterest which pointed me to snackinginsneakers.com  The plan is based on distance, not time.  I'll just take it slow and steady and see where it takes me.  I'm not signed up for any races currently and we'll go from there.

What to do?

Why oh why did you get rid of the half-marathon Melissa's? This has been my destination half-marathon race the past 2 years. For 2015, stating logistic & safety issues they will only offer a 10 k and 'new for this year' a 5k. That's great and all, but $70 for a 10k race? That's a bit pricey and downright outrageous for a 5k.
I'm not sure what to do. My family will be disappointed as they look forward to the weekend away in Banff, but maybe I should look for a new 'destination' run.
Any suggestions?
